Encoders

A range of different encoders is available for applications requiring and accurate control of motor velocity, direction of rotation, and positioning. The performance of a drive or servo system depends on the precision and reliability of the servo feedback available.
Operating principle of capacitive encoders
Capacitive encoder use an AC field transmitter, patterned rotor, field receiver, and a proprietary ASIC to convert modulated signals into output pulses that can be read by the same circuits used to receive optical or magnetic encoder output.

Micro-Drives' capacitive encoders are designed to used in conjunction with Micro-Drives' DC motors, Brushless Motors, and Precision Gearheads for a complete miniature drive system.
Operating principle of magnetic encoders
Magnetic encoders are based on a multi-pole permanent magnet disc mounted directly on the motor shaft. Magnetic flux variations are detected by magnetic sensors and converted into output signals with a 90ºphase shift. This principle allows the configuration of micro-encoders characterized by very small dimensions and high resolutions.

Micro-Drives' magnetic encoders are designed to used in conjunction with Micro-Drives' DC motors, Brushless Motors, and Precision Gearheads for a complete miniature drive system.
Operating principles of optical encoders
Optical encoders use a continuous infrared light source transmitting through a low-inertia multi-section rotor disk which is fitted directly on the motor rear end shaft. The unit thus generates two output signals with a 90° phase shift.

Micro-Drives' optical encoders are designed to used in conjunction with Micro-Drives' DC motors, Brushless Motors, and Precision Gearheads for a complete miniature drive system.
