Using a Niko SMZ - 10 microscope, the lab is able to photograph small objects that would otherwise not be possible with
conventional digital photography. This enables our lab staff to better analyze and document failures in product.
Motor Characterization
Back EMF Testing
We can measure voltage and generate screen shot of BEMF using a 3564 fixture and LabView Scope card for accurate speed and voltage.

Vibrac Dynamometer
 w   100 oz-in & 800 oz-in heads currently available
 w   Limited by inertia and high drag torque on small motors
 w   Limited by speed 5-10k top end; 20-30 rpm low end
 w   Particle brakes are friction devices not meant for long tests
 w   Plan to phase out Vibrac over next 2 years
 
Magtrol Dynamometer
 w   250 in-lb, 6kW, 2.5 oz-in, 11 oz-in, 32 oz-in
 w  Similar inertia limitations to Vibrac but with much lower drag torques
 w   20 k rpm top end; 0 rpm on the low end
 w   Extended runs possible as HB are not friction devices
 w   PID controller; smooter TSPD curves
 w   Power analyzer for input power measurements
Efficiency Curves
The laboratory is capable of creating efficiency curves for motor/gearhead combinations.
